Derek is currently the chair of the band and has been a playing member for nearly 20 years where he joined as a beginner. He was recently awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Kings very first birthday honors list for services to public health during covid-19.

Derek played an important role in the pandemic working within the Scottish Government, initially leading the response and then leading the covid-19 vaccine program which literally saved thousands of lives.

It’s great to see   Derek’s efforts being recognised.
